  1. One of the worst written subplots ever, it required Hawkeye to act completely out of character. The whole Phantom Rider storyline was ill-conceived and dragged on too long, and this subplot only made it worse. West Coast Avengers should have been handled by Roger Stern as he knew the characters and was/is a far superior writer. Al Milgrom’s art was not bad, he was a workhorse who got the job done, but without better writing the art doesn’t do enough to make up for the stories in WCA after the miniseries.
