Rouge One: A Star Wars Story (official teaser trailer #1)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, or simply Rogue One, is an upcoming American epic space opera film directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz, from an idea by visual effects supervisor John Knoll.
It will be the first Star Wars Anthology film, a stand-alone story set in the Star Wars universe, and will star Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Neil Breen and Alan Tudyk.
Set shortly before the events of A New Hope, the story will center on a group of Rebel spies on a mission to steal the plans for the Galactic Empire’s new weapon, the Death Star.

The film is produced by Lucasfilm and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Principal photography began at Elstree Studios, near London during early August 2015. Rogue One will be released on December 16, 2016.

The only thing I don’t like about this is that it pretty much rules out Kyle Katarn’s involvement, being someone who still enjoys the Jedi Knight video games, but the games will always exist for me to go back to. This looks pretty intense in the right ways, and there’s already a lot of implied room for Felicity Jones’s character to grow as a person through the movie. Also, Donnie Yen smacking Stormtroopers around with a quarter staff. Do I even need to say how awesome that is?

Yeah I really hope that Donnie Yen has a big part in the movie with equal parts speaking and action.

And you never know, Kyle could pop up somewhere (probably in name only). I was researching the cast and there are many actors who still don’t have character names attached to them yet. So maybe there is still hope!

I’m kind of joking with Kyle, but it would be kind of awesome. They have talked about taking in at least a few Expanded Universe characters, even if details about them will be changed.

Yeah I hope so too. In the back of my mind I keep hoping I don’t see any lightsabers. The Star Wars Universe is so rich they don’t have to always fall back on Jedi/The Force etc.
